K. D. Thompson's Drawstring Bag Tutorial by SnowBunnyStudios K. D. Thompson's Drawstring Bag Tutorial by SnowBunnyStudios
Sometime ago, I made this simple drawstring bag for a client. Since then, I've gotten a lot of questions about it, as well as people asking how I made it. Here's a walkthrough on how I made this useful little bag.

The great thing about this bag is, you can make the bag larger by simply making your fabric circles larger. You can further decorate this bag with embroidery, piping, lace, bias tape, fringe and more. While I made this out of satin and ribbon, the sky is really the limit with this little bag.

How much fabric do you need?

That depends.  What size bag do you want to make?

You would probably need roughly ½ - ¾ yard.  Always remember πr2 - If you know how deep your want your bag to be, that will roughly give you r.  You'll need to add a few inches to that add room for the channel as well as seam allowance.  That will give you a rough estimate of how much fabric you would need for such a large bag.  Mind you, it's not meant to be worn as a back pack, so you'd have to reengineer the bag a bit.

Good luck!  I'd love to see the finished result.

Thanks. And I might do that in the summer if I get my job. ^^; I hope it turns out right.

It's a lovely drawstring bag, thanks for the walk-through :aww:. Funny how simple things can seem a mystery till someone explains them to us.
