Kdthompson's Bandanna Tutorial by SnowBunnyStudios Kdthompson's Bandanna Tutorial by SnowBunnyStudios
I was asked about how I put together the bandannas for my Big Boss/Naked Snake costumes, so I tired to explain as thoroughly as possible.

I wasn't 100% sure if I was clear on the back stitch or not, so I found a video tutorial to use as reference: [link]

The only difference is that you need to only go back one or two threads, as I stated in the tutorial. Otherwise, too much of the thread will show on top.

I hope this helps anyone that might be confused or curious about this accessory.

Hey there, after watching your video I was wondering where you got the wig from or any pointers of what kind of style to go for? It really inspired me to go for cosplaying my favourite character even though I am a girl! So thank you for that!

I'm always happy to hear that I've inspired you! One should never hesitate to dress as their favorite characters for any reason what so ever, and it thrills me to hear that I've helped you come to that decision, as cosplay is all about showing the love.

As for tips on how I did my Snake wig, it is not at all the easy road. Most people aren't willing to put in the time and effort, so I suggest they get a mullet or punky wig and cut it down into the proper style.

What I did for my wig, I bought a base wig (the minimally modded base wig was my Naked Snake wig for a long time, and I wanted something a bit nicer and closer to what is seen in game), and in the correct color from a local wig shop and matching packs of weft extensions. Over the course if about a week straight, I worked to sew in the extra wefts of hair, basically making it 3x thicker than it originally was and then recut the wig into the mullet-like style Big Boss has in MGS3/MGSPW/MGSGZ. You can see some if the steps I took in the Naked Snake wig 2.0 deviation and the transformation the wig took.

I would really suggest you getting Katie Bair's wig craft book if you're serious about doing heavy-duty cosplay wig styling. If not, there's tons of tutorials on her site and other places like cosplay.com and he on deviantArt that can help you with learning techniques like the ones I've mentioned above.

I hope that was helpful! Let me know, and I'll do my best to offer advice where I can. I wish you all the best with your cosplay.

Thank you so much for taking the time to get back to me! This will probably be my first for a few things with wigs (mostly adding wefts). But it's too good to pass up a tribute to the character like this.

I'll let you know how I go, and thanks again!

Awesome! I'm glad my advice was able to set you on the proper path. Plus, I always love seeing others' progress. I look forward to seeing what you do.

Besides, you don't know until you try. :)
